Volunteer/Study Abroad Package

Spend a term improving your Mandarin Chinese at NCKU Tainan before heading over to the beautiful east coast to help out with the local kids!  This package includes a three month/two months course in Mandarin Chinese at NCKU’s Chinese Language Center followed by a two-week volunteer placement where you’ll help out at a Taiwanese school.

NCKU Chinese Language Center

Location:

The NCKU Chinese Language Center is based in Tainan, Taiwan’s ancient capital located in sunny southern Taiwan.  Tainan is known as the  Capital of Culture in Taiwan, and its people are friendly, its transportation convenient and its prices inexpensive.  The food is good too!

Classes:

Classes are fifteen hours (15) a week – ten hours of language instruction in small group classes (6-12 people) followed by five hours of optional language and cultural classes – and are suitable for all levels, from advanced to absolute beginner.  Individual classes are also available for those who prefer to learn by themselves.  All the teachers are qualified professionals and classes have a friendly atmosphere – you’ll soon pick up Chinese just by talking to your classmates!

Extracurricular:

The Center often runs contests, day trips and other activities which are free for students to participate in – so expect to be heading out to places like Sandimen Aboriginal Village or barbecuing in the mountains!  May is the Dragon Boat Festival in Tainan and the Center will be putting forward teams for students to participate in – even if you can’t row, it’s a good opportunity to learn more about and experience traditional Chinese culture.
