We hope you are doing well under these extraordinary times.

As some people might have noticed, Taiwan is reopening its border to overseas students from low-risk areas. However, according to the Ministry of Education’s current policy, only international degree students, especially those who are about to graduate, can apply to enter Taiwan. Unfortunately, students learning Chinese are not degree students and not eligible for the special entry permit. CLC is sorry that most of our Autumn Session students are still not allowed to enter Taiwan at this moment. On the other hand, since NCKU has been extremely careful to safeguard the students, faculty and staff on the campus, although students may be allowed to enter Taiwan in September, the NCKU entry policy is still subject to change.

We currently don’t plan to change the recruitment and class schedule of 2020 Autumn Session. Just like everyone who has applied for Autumn Session, we hope the government and the school will have an entry program for students learning Chinese soon. To do our part to help flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic, CLC will follow the government’s and NCKU’s policy to keep reviewing the session. We are sorry about the uncertainty, and your understanding is highly appreciated.

CLC will circulate timely notices regarding any changes to future sessions. Updates are available at http://kclc.ncku.edu.tw/langcenter/.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at em52040@email.ncku.edu.tw.
